A complimentary content descriptor was then chosen:

Investigate characteristics and properties of a range of materials, systems, components, tools and equipment and evaluate the impact of their use (ACTDEK023).

In this teachers resource, you will find links to the website, http://www.appypie.com, a unit plan, individual lesson plans, the assessment task sheet, the assessment rubric and a template for students to work too in planning their app. This template can then be handed back to the teacher and used as summative assessment. The unit plan and each individual lesson plan is available for download and can be edited so that each individual teacher can ‘tweak’ the plans to suit their cohort of learners. The end result, or app, will be the assessment piece teachers will use to grade and mark each groups effort and learning within the unit.

Although these lesson plans, unit plans and assessment pieces have been written in a way to allow the teacher to focus on the teaching of the lesson, content and skills, it is important that each individual teacher allows for differentiation within their classromm where necessary. Some students may struggle with the technological side of this unit and may require further assistance for the planning, research and design portion. Therefore, it may be benefecial for extra teachers or teacher aides to be available during lessons in order to assist the students where necessary. As in the unit EXcite, the resources available can be used in one of threee main ways. Teachers can use the entire resource as is, teachers can adapt the resource to suit their cohort of learners or teachers can use the resources as inspiration to create their own.
